As Halloween gets closer I am starting to get excited. I have a few things coming up that I hope will make the holiday a little special here at Amberkatze's Book Blog. So make sure you check in from the 30th of October till the 1st of November!

Also the end of October and beginning of November see alot of new books being released from some of my favourite authors. Lori Handeland has started a new series and the first book 'Any Given Doomsday ' is due out the first week of November. If you want to get a taste of what to expect then there is a free book download 'The beginning' that introduces the series. Go here to check it out.

Of course Living with the Dead by Kelley Armstrong is the new release I really want right now but still have to wait for! Although Kimberly over on Darque Reviews is reading it now...so maybe check her site to see what she has to say about it when she is done!

There is another new book cover on show this week from one of the authors over on Something Wicked. The sequel to Angie Fox's The Accidental Demon Slayer looks cool! I can't wait to read this one when it comes out.

Another author who is showing off some new book covers this week is Dakota Cassidy! Not only is the cover for The Accidental Human looking great but she also has a demon based book called Kiss & Hell. I can't wait to read both books and hope Dakota will come and visit Amberkatze's Book Blog again when they are released. Both covers look cool and I thought I would post them here so you can see for yourself!

If that wasn't enough covers to post then here is one more!Terri Garey also got her new cover to show off! You're the One that I Haunt is due out in February and I can't wait to see what Nicki gets into this time! I love this series and will let you on to a little secret...Terri will be here over Halloween...shhh!!

The style on this new cover is different to the previous books and Nicki looks a little bit more sexier and kick-ass than I expected. However it really fits the series so I like it.



This week Suburban Vampire has an interesting poll up. What's the best vampire author website? I know who I voted for but I can't wait to see who wins. Go over and have your say. There are some good options!

My friend Shaunie is having a giveaway on her blog that I think is great (so great that I have stolen the idea for this weeks prize which you will find out about later). Go over to her site to enter and support a great cause.

Yankee Romance Reviews seem to have a new contest and author visiting everyday! I can't keep up! So if you are looking for some new book ideas and love hearing what the writers have to say about themselves then you really need to keep checking out the site!

It has been a while since I have had the time to do a round-up so I hope that not too many people are missing it! Things have been busy here and I wish I had more time to read and blog but hopefully things will get back to normal soon!

Halloween is coming up and I have asked a few authors to guest blog and I also have a cool interview to post on that weekend. If you have any cool or scary Halloween stories you would like to share then feel free to email them to me and I will post them over the weekend of Halloween.

There is still time to 'Ask Jeri' some questions! Actually so far I don't have any!!! Where are you all??? The ones who said they couldn't wait for Reawakened and Bad to the Bone??? I am sure someone has some questions they would like to ask the author!

So I haven't been over to my favourite sites for a while so this could be a long round-up :) To start things off I see a new cover from a series I love! The next Garnet book - Dead If I Do will be out next year! You can find out more over on Something Wicked!

Over on Tez Says there is a great list of the upcomming releases that had me adding more books to my order and wishlists! I have no idea why I don't have her site on my regular links list...must rectify that!

Just got stuck looking at the Top 10: Female Hotness in Spandex, Leather and Superpowers. I am sure they missed someone...but I can't think who right now.

I always spend so much time on Vampire Wire. With all the books to check up on, TV and film stuff to read through as well as all the other Paranormal news I don't know why I bother looking at any other sites...

Patricia's Vampire Notes is having a Scary Books Contest. Go over and have a look at what books you could win for just naming the scariest book you have read!

So I always visit 'The Witchy Chicks' because some of my favourite authors post over there. Well of course I haven't been over there for a while and look what I missed!! There is now a 'Witchy Chicks Cauldron' where you can see all the contests the authors are running! Great idea gals!

There are some other blogs where authors get together and post their news. Fangs, Fur & Fey have an amazing role call of authors posting and I get so much information from over there! Then there is the League of Reluctant Adults who post some very interesting things. Mark Henry's list of how much it costs to be an author really made me say WOW!

So that is some of the news from some of the blogs I had a chance to look at over the last hour. Now I am going back to my book and then the TV. It is Sunday after all!

I love Darque Reviews, I really do!! However she gets all the great books first!! A review of Untamed by P.C & Kristen Cast is up on her site and I am green with envy. The book isn't due out for a month and I always have to wait longer for Europe to get this series.

Vampire Wire is a cool blog run by the lovely author, Marta Acosta. Not only does she have all the latest news and reviews about everything paranormal but she also runs contests. So go over and see what she is giving away!!!

Oh and the League of Reluctant Adults also have contests....and they are always having a laugh. Some of my favourite authors are over there and I just wish I had more time to go visit them.

So it is Monday again and yet again I didn't manage to post a round-up yesterday but I think Sundays are full enough! The new contest and author interview is always on a Sunday so maybe the round-up will keep appearing on a Monday.

Now I am a little lazy sometimes so I am really glad to go over to sites such as Literary Escapism and Vampire Wire to find out everything I need to know about what is going on lately. If you want to know when Twilight is really coming out and where all the hot contests and author interviews are then I can highly recommend putting both sites on your bookmarks!

My picture this week is yet again Life on Mars. I have finished Carnivale (need to get the 2nd series now) and I have moved on to the second series of this amazing show. If you haven't tried this yet and have the chance..Do it!

Now I haven't come across much else on my online travels that nobody else has posted about so I am going to leave the round up there. However I am going to ask you guys out there a question. I hope I will get some informative answers.

Why Teen/YA books??? Now I love alot of the Teen/YA books and series out there but I am getting a little worried about how many authors are now suddenly joining in. Rachel Vincent announced a while back that she will be doing her own YA series and last month Yasmine Galenorn also gave us the great news. Now I have heard Kim Harrison is joining in and I am sure many more authors are too.

So why?

The Sunday round-up is a little late this week! Yesterday I was a little busy so this week we are having a very short Monday Round-Up because it looks like I either missed everything interesting or people are just on holiday!

It is Sunday and I am sooooo tired! I had a wonderful time in Prague and got very tipsy and didn't sleep much at all. When I get some better photos to show you maybe I will post them....

Thank you to everyone who sent me messages here, on facebook, through MySpace and the book forums I haunt. Everyone knows that coming home after a holidy is depressing but all the messages made me smile so a huge thank you and hugs to you all!

So I have been out of the loop most of this week so this Sunday Round-up could get long...so hold on and enjoy!

To start things off today I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to author and Amberkatze's Book Blog friend Terri Garey! She won the 2008 RITA for Best First Book Finalists for her book Dead Girls Are Easy and I am really happy for her!

Another Sunday is upon us and I am still in a good mood because I am still off work!!! My picture this week is the 'Queen of Hearts' by Rachel Anderson. She is one of my favourite artists and I am actually cross stitching this picture to put up on my wall. It will take me about 20 years to get done though so maybe someone can send me a poster of this lovely Queen? ;)

Over on Something Wicked this week author Shirley Damsgaard asks - Which author would you most like to meet? I myself would be happy to meet just about any of the authors I read but being stuck in Europe that doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon. So a big thank you to all the authors who have, are and will support me by emailing me back, letting me interview them, giving up stuff for contests, sending me cool things and of course for the books!

Oh and I just opened Darque Reviews and said my usual 'Damn'! More reviews of books I want!! How does she do it? Well she did tell me...but again being in Europe sucks ;) Anyway if you like Caitlin Kittredge there is a great interview over there so go and check it out!

There is an interview with Rachel Caine over on Sidhe's site this week. I wonder if Rachel will ever send me back those interview questions I sent her a few months back...

Another site worth checking out is Urban Fantasy Land. It went a bit quiet over there for a while but things have started picking up again.

Suburban Vampire has two new polls this week. They both involve vampires and movies...I won't tell you more...you should go look!

The hype just keeps coming for True Blood. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months you will have seen advertisements for this everywhere. I saw a leaked copy of the first episode weeks ago and I have to say it left me with mixed feelings. On the one side it was Sookie but on the other side a lot of it was not Charlaine Harris. Anyway HBO have graphic novel online to lead us up to the start of the series. Go and have a free read and check out more about the series.

Yay! Sunday!!! And I don't have to go to work tomorrow, well actually for the next 2 weeks, so I am in a good mood ;)

Picture this week is 'Life on Mars' a great TV series about a British police detective who somehow ends up in 70's. Great fun and loads of action. If you haven't checked it out yet then go have a look and maybe give it a try.

My guest last week was Angie Fox and she and her author friends have been giving alot of books away over on Something Wicked. I haven't won anything because I haven't been checking in often enough...I think I need to make sure I go over there every day.

While browsing around I found a new site for me to add to my every growing list of sites I like is The Good, The Bad and The Unread. Catchy name isn't it? Check it out!

I have mentioned 'Hide-a-Book' before but now I can highly recommend hiding your book! I ordered a couple for myself and a couple for a friend. We both love them. Nothing better to hide those sexy porn like vampire covers on public transport and from family. If you haven't already had a look then just take a peak! They make great pressies!

Sunday again! Another week gone by and another week or work about to start. Wooohooo! Not!

This weeks picture is from here. This cover for a Magazine for healthy vampires is something I found while looking around and had to keep it saved. The stories this cover boasts having inside is more than amusing and it is a shame that this mag doesn't really exist!

Although any vampire lovers out there who like the idea of a magazine should check out 'Bite Me'. I am the book reviewer for this great magazine and it is available for order here. You can also order the previous issues as well if some take your fancy! On a side note I will be giving away a few copies again soon!

So what has been happening this week? Well I got lots of new books but there are 2 that are still missing that I wanted asap! Yasmine Galenorn's Dragon Wytch still has a release date for October here in Europe even though it was released in the States this week. I am hoping a copy finds me soon because I really love this series. Also Undead and Unworthy by MaryJanice Davidson came out this week but my copy hasn't arrived yet. I wish there was a nice bookstore here that actually stocked all these books and for a reasonable price instead of me relying on online companies!

While going through my sites that I always visit at least once a week I found that 'Darque Reviews' has gone quiet and
that for some reason I can't get Literary Escapism to work! However on a positive note Vampire Genre is making a come back and the lovely Vicky London will be posting her paranormal reviews again! Great news!

It has been a long hot week here in Vienna and I haven't had much time to read. What I have managed to read though was great stuff. New releases and an ARC!!

I went to see my favourite Welsh band the 'Stereophonics' on Wednesday night (see photo) and it was a bloody great concert! I hope the guys come back again soon! Have a listen to the Stereophnics here!

So what is up in the world of books this week? Well last night there was an amazing online chat event over on author Jaquelyn Frank's site. Great authors and unique prizes! I just didn't manage to stay awake till the end. I did manage to make it along for Jeri Ready-Smith, Cynthia Eden and Lara Adrian. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved and to all the lovely people there who were so nice to me!

Authors C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp made a huge announcement yesterday! Not only do they have the new book covers over on their myspace page but their future books (not The Sazi ones) will have the combined author name Cat Adams on them!!

Here is the cover of the first release with the new name. A stand-alone paranormal romance in February 2004, called MAGIC'S DESIGN.



If you have never read any of the Dark-Hunter series or are missing 'Seize the Night' then you are in luck! You can download this great Sherrilyn Kenyon e-book from here for free! I read this one ages ago but couldn't resist downloading a copy to pass on to friends!
