From the biggest names in paranormal romance, this book is filled with over 25 stories about vampires! In the world of the undead there are strange codes of conduct, dark rituals and mating games. Lilith Saintcrow, Keri Arthur, Jenna Black, Rachel Vincent & Vicki Petterson are just a few of the great authors who contributed to this mammoth book. Vampire Romance is the name and that is exactly what you get in this huge anthology.

I could go into detail and review each individual story in this book but that would take a lot of time. The general conclusion is that this book was amazingly good for an anthology. Not only do you have a wide selection of super authors but there are also alot of brilliant stories. Some of the authors have even written stories with characters from their popular books while others show they can write something different for a change.

Sure some were not to my tastes, for instance I am not a historical vampire romance fan, however the book in general was of very high standard and a must read for any paranormal romance fans out there. This was the best anthology I have read in a while and I hope they do this kind of collection again. Of course there are some other authors I would have liked to see in this one but all in all the genre was represented very well. Oh but there were no male writers...

Prostitutes are showing up dead in Santa Luz. Some kind of evil is out killing innocent women and Jill Kismet doesn't want that kind of evil in her town. To make matters worse an old enemy of Jill's is also in town. With so many bad things coming from so many directions it is a wonder if Jill knows if she is coming or going.

Jill is used to killing all manner of evil and horrid things but this one has her stumped. Nobody seems to know what is out on the streets and whatever it is smells awful. With the help of her were partner Saul, Kismet will go to any extreme to get to the bottom of things. If she gets hurt then she hopes she gives as good as she gets.

This is the second book in the Jill Kismet series and I have to say I am still impressed. Hunter's Prayer is not as good as the first book Night Shift but it is brilliant reading. Saintcrow has created something deep, dark and dismal and given it a kick-ass heroine that the reader can really get to know. Something about this series has me really hooked and I can't wait for more books because I am sure that things can only get better.

It has been a great month here on Amberkatze's Book Blog and it isn't over yet!! I hit 200 books read over the weekend and the site has now had over 10,000 hits!!! There are an amazing amount of subscriptions to the newsletter and so I want to give something back!

Jill Kismet is a dealer in dark things and a demon slayer and it is her job to patrol the Nightside. Called out to the aftermath of a very bloody attack where 5 cops were killed and one is left fighting for his life, Jill assesses the situation and picks up the stench of something she would rather not smell.

A hellbreed and something else are working together and things are dangerous. Jill is the best there is and knows where to go and who to ask for information. So when some weres turn up giving her more help than she wants things turn into a game of cat and mouse. The big questions that needs to be asked is who is the mouse in this game? Is it Jill?

Night Shift is the first in a new series by Lilith Saintcrow and I am relieved to say that it was brilliant. I first found this author through her Dante Valentine series which I seriously got hooked on from book one but then found annoying by the time book 3 came along and gave up on it. Hopefully this series will not go the same way because this one is different and (literally) bloody good.

Jill rocks and is extremely hard. I can't wait to see what the author does with this character because the ending left things looking extremely interesting. Hunter's Prayer, book number two in the series, is thankfully due out next month so the wait is short (kudos for that!) and it is already on pre-order!

Dark, bloody and Urban Fantasy at its best this is not for the weak hearted but for the hardcore paranormal genre readers out there who like something with a little more edge and alot more kicking than kissing. Jill Kismet is here and hopefully she is here to stay.
