Sunday 8 June 2008
It is Sunday again and so it is time for another round-up!

You know what I have been reading but what have I been watching? Well of course the picture will give you a clue! Moonlight is a great vampire series and it isn't being shown here in Austria but I have managed to get a copy. So I am up to episode 5 and enjoying it. I know it has been cancelled but maybe they will start it up again.

I am using the round-up as a chance to thank author Lara Adrian! As some will know she donated a whole set of signed books to a lucky winner here on Amberkatze's Book Blog and I saw this message on Bookobsessed the other day -

I won this giveaway and I got four books from Lara Adrian in the mail this week!

Kiss of Midnight
Midnight Awakening
Kiss of Crimson
Midnight Rising

All of the books are signed to me with an nice comment and each with a bookmark and magnet!

I'll try to post pictures later today.

Thank you Amberkatze!!

So thank you Lara for making Mellonhead's day!

I added more books to my wishlist again this week while visiting Darque Reviews. I only wish I had all those lovely books before they hit the stores!

While I am on the subject of wishlist books. Has anyone read 'The Host' by Stephanie Meyer yet? I started it the other day and really don't know what to think of it. I actually don't feel like picking it back up. Does it get better? Anyone out there got any views?

Over on Suburban Vampire this week the poll asks 'What's your favorite young adult/children's vampire series...that's not Twilight?' Firstly I have to say that I would not have picked 'Twilight' even if it had been an option. Great series but too much hype! (although I am excited about 'Breaking Dawn') Secondly I have to add that this poll made me really think about what to vote for. It wasn't easy making a decision!

Want to win some books? Fantasy and Sci-Fi Lovin is giving some away so pop over and enter the contest to win!

On Make Mine a Dark One there are always these cool quizzes! This week there is the 'What type of weather are you'. I am Lightning!!!

You Are Lightning

Beautiful yet dangerous

People will stop and watch you when you appear

Even though you're capable of random violence

You are best known for: your power

Your dominant state: performing

Some of my favourite authors have got together and made a blog! Shirley Damsgaard, Angie Fox, Tate Hallaway, Karen MacInerney and Ann Aguirre are now 'Something Wicked'.

Oh and Amberkatze's Book Blog has been getting some mentions on author sites this week! The lovely Terri Garey mentioned the latest contest I am running and Tate Hallaway also mentioned me on her blog! Thank you ladies!

Well that is it for another week! Don't forget to enter the new contest (see sidebar) and keep coming back! I have some more contests coming soon and also some interviews!

Thank you for the DR mention, you know I'm happy to add to your wish list. *grin* I never received a review copy of The Host, but now you've got me curious as to what made you stop reading! :)

The Host...what can I say!? I expected it to be different from the Twilight series but up until now I just find it confusing and blabbering nonesense...

I am sure it gets better...I am sure...

http://tezmilleroz.wordpress.com/2008/04/24/review-the-host-stephenie-meyer/ Since I've never read the Twilight books, I started the book feeling neutral, but I absolutely loved it. But I've only just realised that nowadays futuristics grab me more than urban fantasy does. I'm evolving! ;-)

Have a lovely day! :-)

Hi Amber!

Pretty much all of the reviews Ive seen of The Host say that it's hard to get into at first or starts off slow, but that it gets really good if you keep reading. Sorry I can't remember where I read them, but tht's what I've been seeing online about it. Hope that helps! :)

They’ve already cancelled one of my favorite shows last year, they can’t cancel this too. Jason Dohring makes a wonderful vampire!

I haven’t read The Host, or any of Stephanie Meyer’s books but a few bloggers seemed to really enjoy it. I’m suprised that although I’ve heard of all those vampire series I haven’t read one of them. They’re all getting good buzz though.

Well I am sure I will pick up The Host again. I usually wouldn't keep on reading a book after the first 80 pages if it hasn't grabbed me but I will give this one the benefit of the doubt. Plus it is a whopping 600+ pages...

Oh and Ladytink you should really try the Twilight series!
