After a romantic engagement in Paris, Maddie Springer's wedding is finally closing in. With so many arrangements to make she is happy to have wedding planner, Gigi, to help her. Everything is going perfectly until Maddie finds Gigi lying dead in a wedding cake.

The groom to be is on the case, after all he is a police detective. However Maddie thinks that her husband to be maybe a little too tied up with the murder case to remember their wedding. So she does what any bride to be can do and decides to work on the case as well. After all she has done it a few times before and always solved the mystery before the police.

With the help of her friends, Maddie is determined to find out who killed her wedding planner and why. As the wedding gets closer the clues start running thin and the man of her dreams is not happy with her involvement in the case. Will Maddie find the murderer and manage to get married? Or will her time run out before the big day?

This fifth book in the Maddie Springer series gave me a well deserved break from the paranormal. However the wedding theme of this new addition to the series did leave me a little bored at first but after things started getting exciting the whole dresses, bridesmaids and catering palaver didn't bother me so much.

I wouldn't say this series is in the cozy mystery genre but more of a funny mystery genre (if there is one). Think Stephanie Plum obsessed with shoes and fashion and this is what you can expect from Gemma Halliday's well dressed series. With the crazy family, the hilarious friends and cop boyfriend there is no lack of interesting characters to guide the reader through this fantastic adventure.

I hope this isn't the last in the series. A new series by the same author is advertised in the back of the book and I will be keeping a look out for it. I am sure it will be just as good if not better than this one.
