Having a rare gift saved Renata's life two years ago. Instead of being killed the breedmate has been trained to used guns and knifes so she can survive in the world of vampires. However she is basically a prisoner of the evil Sergei Yakut forces her to use the psychic ability she possesses for the wrong reasons and also feeds on her blood. When a stranger turns up looking for Yakut she does her best to protect her master and the nearly blind child in her care. She knows that the newcomer means no good but she starts to question what she really wants in her life. Can she and her ward find something better?

Nikolai is Breed. A fierce combat loving man who is out to find Sergei Yukat. When Renata gets in his way he is more than mad. However the Breedmate has something that stops him from hurting her and he wants to help her and the child in her care. When Renata is forced to ask Niko for help he is more than willing to join forces with her and stop the horrible things going on in Canada. As the desire builds between them they are forced into a situation bigger than they could ever imagine. Will the blood bond help them through the worst? Will Renata be able to save her ward and also finally find a life they both deserve?

Veil of Midnight is the fifth book in the Midnight Breed series and it just keeps getting better and better. I love this series and can't wait for the next book due out in May. Filled with paranormal action there is always an erotic twist in every book. While the story always has a happy ending for those involved you can guarantee that there will be some unanswered questions in the continuing plot that is guiding readers through the series.

If you like the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J. R. Ward then you need to read this series. Hard, dark and deep this has amazing characters and is wonderfully written. Definitely a must read series.

I couldn't agree more! I love this series and really loved this book! I got all giddy when I saw this post, lol.

I've been a BDB fan for years, but I think this series is even better (and, for a long time, I didn't think that was possible!).

I'm ready for the next installment already! ;)
