Lyra Magice is visiting France when a dhampir named Theron LeNoir invites her to look at his prized collection of items from witch history. While at his house looking at some of the oldest items she has ever seen she comes across a book that she instantly knows she has to have. The book has some symbols inside that she has seen before. Symbols found at murder sites back home in Necropolis.

Theron isn't happy when he realises that Lyra has taken his book and follows her to Necropolis. He arrives to find that there has been another murder and promises to stay and help Lyra and the rest of her team find the killer and translate the symbols from his book that could hold the key to the whole case.

While working together the pair begin to get to know each other better and find each other in their dreams. She is a witch of great power and he is a dhampir with a dark past. Can they find a way to make things work between them? Will the killer reach his goal and open a portal to hell?

This is the third book in the Valorian Chronicles and it was just as great as the first two. Veiled Truth has a good balance of paranormal and romance this reads like an episode of CSI with vampires and witches. I really like this series and hope it won't be the last. I can't wait to see what happens to the team next and want paranormal nasty they will be against next time.

I've been liking Vivi's books for some time, and this series, too.
