This book was so good that it deserves to be read by anyone who visits my blog so it is the prize if you win in this new contest!

In the 'Staked' world some vampires can change into animals. Some can change into any animal they want whereas some can only change into the animal they first changed into. One character in the book got stuck with only being able to change into a frog...poor thing! So my question to all my readers is -

If you were in the 'Staked' world and had to choose one animal to change into to test you had that power but knew it could be the only animal you could ever change into to, what animal would you chose? and why?

Post here with your answer to be entered into the contest!

The contest will close next Friday the 18th! So you only have a week to enter!

Please note that all my books are registered on Bookcrossing and the book will be posted to the winner asap but the delivery date all hangs on the decision made by the gods in the Austrian Post office.

I'd definitely change into a cat. Cats rock!Sleep all day, hunt all night. All sleek and cunning.

I would have to say an Irish Wolfhound. Large, powerful, intelligent and loving is all you need to get you anywhere. Not to mention they are really beautiful dogs.

Oooh, tough question. Something big with predatory skills might be very useful, or something like a large lovely dog....

But I'm going to pick a bird because I want to fly! Something fast but not too big. If these are vampires that can't stand daylight, then an owl so I can see what I'm doing! Otherwise, a small falcon.

I would be a cat. Since part of my name is kat (Kathy) then cats have always been my favorite animal. I had one when I was little (Marble) and I have 7 now (Weezier, Toadia, Porsha, Scooter, Tiger, Isabelle, and Grey)

Make that Toadie, not Toadia, lol.

If we're talking about any type of animals including mystical creatures, I'd like to be a flying unicorn :)
1) Cos they're beautiful
2) I love horses
3) They can fly!
:)

I'd be a polar bear. eat fish and sleep. yup that's my life.

As much as I love bunnies, just like they say in Watership down, they are the prey to nearly every animal, so I'd hate to be so vulnerable. Unless you're a house rabbit with wonderful owners, you've got a chance of a much harder life. :(

My other totem animal however seems to be an eagle. I've always had an affinity for birds and flying, and I believe that when I properly apply myself, I am more of Scorpio the Eagle than Scorpio the Scorpion. Because eagles can soar, and overcome difficult obstacles.

So that's my final answer, yup, an Eagle! :)

I would be a cat. I've always loved cats. They're independent, powerful, and really enjoy their naps. :)

Wow, a lot of good answers. I particularly like the anonymous comment about turning into a flying unicorn... which, in an odd sort of way, made me think: I wonder if I'd let a vampire choose a T-rex?

I imagine that doing so would make a vampire very very thirsty. Hmm... Not sure.

To answer the question though, I think I'd pick either a bird (probably a golden eagle), a sea turtle, or a liger. Then again, if I thought that I could get away with it, I really might go for a T-rex. I can't make up my mind.

Great question and thanks for the excellent review!

Best,

JF Lewis

oops, forgot to answer the question! That's a tough one because I love a lot of animals, and can think of pros and cons for each one, but I guess I'd have to go with a cat, not terribly interesting I know, but it's a loyalty thing! ;)

Thanks for the contest Amberkatze!

If I were to choose, my first choice would definitely be a mythical creature: a Dragon. Just because. :)

But, given that Dragons in the 21st century wouldn't exactly blend in, I wouldn't mind being stuck turning into a panther. I love their deadly grace.

I would change into a swan. I'd be all pretty, but able to break a man's leg in three places with my wing.

. . . I'm such a ballerina.

And if you really want Vampire Kisses 5, I'm going to be giving away my ARCs of both 4 and 5 for my contest next month.

Thanks to everyone who has entered so far! Some great answers!!!

I forgot to say that I would be a cat...pretty obvious actually...Amberkatze means Ambercat.

However it is really hard for me to decide what kind of cat...a blank panther would be cool...or a white bengal tiger...decisions decisions!

@ Liviania - I will pop over and enter that contest! I have read book 4 but I wouldn't mind book 5!

Great question Amberkatze, really had to think about it.

I would say a ferret. They are inquisitive, protective and fierce when required, a bit temperamental on occasions, but also very loyal.

Hmmm this really is a tough choice. My first thought was a Rottweiler. :P
The next thing that went through my mind was on the same thinking as Xeyra...a dragon. Always want to put that "your crunch and good with ketchup" theory to the test.
Then a cat of some sort came to mind...something large like a panther or a white tiger would be cool.
Flying would also be pretty neat, so I considered a bird. Probably a hawk. Then I could chase down that dang woodpeckers that's decided my house is his personal buffet.

Shoot...we have to pick just one animal? I guess I'd better be one of the luckier ones who can do any kind of animal. I can't decided. :(
Par for my frame of mind this week. *L*

I would probably pick a cat of some type. Because they're cute, smart, dangerous and almost anything else I could think of.
If I couldn't be a cat, I would have to say a meerkat or an otter. Both of these animals have cat like characteristics, and they have the cuteness component as well...

The first thought that popped into my head was Horse. I've thought it over and horse is still the winner. I would love to be able to run as a horse. They are sleek and gorgeous. I've loved since I knew what a horse was.

At 16 April 2008 at 10:58, Blogger mellonhead

A love cats, but I want to fly, so it would have to be a bird. If I got stuck as a bird that would be ok. Probably an eagle, they are majestic, powerful and fiercely protective of their young!

Oops, I forgot I wanted to say thank you for such a generous offer and congratulations on a beautiful and successful blog!

A bird. Something big, with fewer enemies, like a hawk or eagle. I want to fly!

At 17 April 2008 at 15:48, Blogger -.-

While I'd love to fly, I'd want to be a wolf. They are such beautiful creatures, so I'd want to be able to change into a wolf.

At 17 April 2008 at 16:58, Blogger Lemonitsa

I think that I would choose to be an owl because they are wise animals, have supper night vision and are strong. I'd love to be a night animal :)

cheers,
Lemonitsa

The first thing that came to my mind was wolf. I love them since childhood :)

But I think I will turn into a Dragon - just like the Bookwyrm on the new BookCrossing bookplate!! I like to sit on my new books and can't bring myself to read them anytime soon *sigh*
