Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir who is training to be a guardian. Then she can look after her best friend Lissa without anyone else getting in the way. You see they have a special connection and right now Christian, Lissa's boyfriend, is making things difficult.
That isn't the only difficulty Rose has right now though. The biggest problem is that the deadly Strigoi have started attacking royal family members and nobody is safe. However she also has problems with her love life and her absent mother is suddenly present.
At Vampire Academy it is Christmas but with so much death around them the holidays are long forgotten and all the students are going on a ski trip to help forget the woes of the outside world. Will the trip help? Or make things worse? Where are the Strigoi and who is helping them?
This 2nd book in the Vampire Academy series was much better than the first. Don't get me wrong...the first book was very good but this one had that little something that the other book didn't. The characters in this book were older and wiser plus their lives were more intense.
I have to thank the author for having a nice prologue that aided me in remembering what happened in the last book. It saved me alot of time and I got into the story alot quicker because I didn't have to think back and try and sort out what was what.
This was a great read with lots of action, some romance and quite a few deaths. Although aimed at young adults any Urban Fantasy genre reader will appreciate and like this book.
