Mercy Hollings is a hypnotherapist with a special talent. She can 'push' people into doing what she wants them to do. This is of course very handy in her line of work and she has a high success rate. The only people who know about Mercy's ability is her best friend Sukey and her boyfriend Sam. Sukey seems to be building up talents of her own while Mercy is pushing Sam away.

Sometimes Mercy's emotions get in the way and when she is pulled into a case involving domestic abuse and child pornography she finds herself in deeper than she can handle. In the meantime she is also trying to find her birth parents so she can find out where her talent came from and if there are anymore people like her. So far she only found one more person who could do what she can do and she ended up killing him.

This second book in the Mercy Hollings series was not bad. I wouldn't say this was an amazing read but it was well written and interesting. I found the subject matter this time around a little chilling and wish that all abuse stories could end up with a happy ending. I am dying to find out more about Mercy's talent and where it came from so I will be keeping a look out for the next book in the series.

All in all a good cozy mystery book with a slight paranormal twist. Definitely worth checking out if you like this genre.
