Easter Hutton's dad is long gone and her mom keeps getting new guys who will keep them in cash until she finds another one. All of that is nothing because Easter has started astral projecting herself back to the places she liked living.

She never knows where she is going to end up next and she keeps visiting old classmates as well as a blind man. As she struggles to understand why this is happening to her she starts to find other outcasts with special abilities. All of it is connected to a organisation called 'Homefree'.

This was an quick read and it has left me with alot to think about. Not very paranormal this was more like the X-Men but for very troubled kids. Worth reading if you get the chance...it is an interesting story.

I have waited to read this book since I knew about it. When this finally arrived yesterday morning I knew that my 'To Be Read' pile had just got a new leader!

Was it worth the wait? Was it heck!

This was new, fresh and fun! Sexy, devilish and quirky! It was so good I want the next part 'Demon Inside' now!

You can see my full review on Paranormal Romance soon! However I advise people to just go and buy this one and enjoy and don't wait to see what people think about it.

I was asked by the author to review this book and have to openly apologise for taking so long to get around to it!

This book was extremely interesting and anybody who loves reading Maria V. Snyder's 'Study' series or 'The Noble Dead' series by Barb Hendee & J.C. Hendee will want to give this novel a try.

I am sending my full review, as soon as it is finished, to Paranormal Romance.

Cody Elliot is proud of his F filled report card. It is exactly what he wanted. Why? Because it is not what his Dad wants. Well Cody doesn't care what his Dad wants because his Dad obviously didn't think about his feelings when he moved him allthe way to Sodom.

Cody's plan to get him back to California backfires though. His Dad decides that Cody should go to a harder school where he can't get away with this kind of attitude. So off he goes to Vlad Dracul.

The school is strange for a public school and the prinicipal is 7ft tall and has a pet wolf. The students wear sunglasses in Winter and it isn't long before Cody finds out who or what his classmates really are.

All differences aside this turns out to be the perfect High school for Cody. All he has to do is play in the Water Polo team and he will take home straight A's. Things aren't that easy though and Cody finds himself in the middle of some things he doesn't really understand.

This was a fun story about fitting in, being true to yourself and making a difference. It was easy to read and extremely entertaining. The author obviously put alot of thought into the kind of vampires he wanted and he has come great characters. Although this is aimed at teens this is nice quick and laugh out read that any age would enjoy. I am off to see if the author has written more about Cody and his vamp friends!

They may be dead but they are certainly not gone. They dance with the living and sleep under your bed. They follow you home from school and talk to you. This creepy collection of seven short stories follows some hauntings that may keep you awake at night.

Not a bad mix of stories in this one. Some were shorter than others and some were better than others. Wonderfully written to spook any reader this book has only fueled my need to seek out more books by this writer.

Usually my blog is full of activity over the weekend but this week everything is a little slow. Why? Well mainly my weekend has been spent meeting people.

Firstly, I was lucky enough to meet my dear friend Kislany /Marika on Friday for the first time in person! She is in Vienna on holiday and we made it a mission to meet up! ;) I have a picture to post but haven't loaded up on the computer yet so I will post it later when I have more time.

Secondly I met another Boockrosser from Seattle on Saturday! Thegoaliegirl which was great! I can't believe how many people are in Vienna this weekend!

Cause thirdly my dad is here too! (see picture). He is in Bratislava for a long weekend so I went there yesterday and spent the day with him and he will be coming here today. Hence the lack of time for reading and posting!

So the Rachel Vincent contest is open until later today. I will get Raffle King to draw a winner this evening. The Sunday Round-up will either become a Monday or Tuesday Round-up this week so check back then ;)

Edit -

Here is the photo of Kislany/Marika and me in my Bookcrossing OBCZ. Not the best photo I have seen of myself but you don't have to look at me...take a good look because it maybe the only photo I ever post of myself!

After 2 years of having nightmares that predict something bad will be happening soon...Stacey needs a break. So this Summer she takes a vacation with her boyfriend Jacob and their circle of friends. A nice long break before they have to start college.

It should be the perfect holiday with sun, surf and fun but then the nightmares return. This time they aren't about a friend but about a girl Stacey has never met before. A girl staying in a cottage down the road. Why is Stacey dreaming about this girl? Does it mean the girl will die soon?

Stacey can't sit back and watch the bad things start to unfold but her dreams aren't that clear. She stops enjoying the holiday and starts snooping and working some spells to help the holiday end in a nice way and not as a real nightmare.

I really enjoyed 'Blue is for Nightmare' and 'White is for Magic' (the first 2 books in this series) but this 3rd based on Stacey was no where near as good as the previous books.

This was not spooky and there was not much magic involved. The characters seemed childish and even though they are older in this book they were alot more grown-up in the previous two stories.

The ending was a little shocking but I have to say it only slightly made up for the bad storyline throughout the book. Not at all the best in this series I am still looking forward to seeing what happens next in 'Red is for Remembrance'.

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir who is training to be a guardian. Then she can look after her best friend Lissa without anyone else getting in the way. You see they have a special connection and right now Christian, Lissa's boyfriend, is making things difficult.

That isn't the only difficulty Rose has right now though. The biggest problem is that the deadly Strigoi have started attacking royal family members and nobody is safe. However she also has problems with her love life and her absent mother is suddenly present.

At Vampire Academy it is Christmas but with so much death around them the holidays are long forgotten and all the students are going on a ski trip to help forget the woes of the outside world. Will the trip help? Or make things worse? Where are the Strigoi and who is helping them?

This 2nd book in the Vampire Academy series was much better than the first. Don't get me wrong...the first book was very good but this one had that little something that the other book didn't. The characters in this book were older and wiser plus their lives were more intense.

I have to thank the author for having a nice prologue that aided me in remembering what happened in the last book. It saved me alot of time and I got into the story alot quicker because I didn't have to think back and try and sort out what was what.

This was a great read with lots of action, some romance and quite a few deaths. Although aimed at young adults any Urban Fantasy genre reader will appreciate and like this book.

Twenty years ago, Morgan Rowlands was the most powerful young blood witch to be born for a long time. She made magickal discoveries and faced evil more than once. Now Morgan's life is different.

Morgan has moved to Ireland, married, had a child and been widowed since we last saw her. In this book we meet her as a grown woman and meet her daughter, Moira. This book is twice as long as the other Sweep books were and is told from both Morgan's and Moira's perspective. With lots of heartbreaking secrets coming out in this one it is well worth reading if you have read any of the Sweep books.

This is the 15th and last part in the Sweep series and it was a lovely ending. I am sad to see the series come to an end but I have enjoyed it and now I can move on to 'Balefire' which is also written by this author.

If you haven't tried the 'Sweep' series yet - I can highly recommend it.

I finally got my ordered copy of Rogue by Rachel Vincent today! (and for anyone who saw my rant - I didn't get it from Amazon.de). This is an excellent book and any fans are sure to have a copy already! Although I know some people out there haven't got their hands on a copy yet. If you want to know more about the book then you can read my review or visit Rachel Vincent's site.

Rachel Vincent was nice enough to send me a copy of 'Rogue' a couple of weeks ago and I promised to use my copy that I ordered (when it arrived) as a prize on my blog. So hereby starts the contest ;)

To enter the contest leave a comment on this thread letting me know what upcomming new release you really have to buy as soon as it comes out! There are alot of cool books coming out over the next few months and I am really interested to see if I have them all on my wishlist already ;) I am sure some readers will also be interested!

All my books are registered on Bookcrossing so there will be a small label in this book but I don't expect the winner to be a member of Bookcrossing to win.

I will leave the contest open until the 28th of April and raffleking will draw a winner!

*note to regular readers - This isn't the contest I was planning for this week with the hint word 'Breed'. Hopefully that contest will start next week.

Bonnie Pinkwater is a maths teacher and a very good one. She cares alot about her students and can't stop herself from nosing around when one of her students goes missing. However this isn't a one off. One by one her students are turning up dead and Bonnie can't stop herself from getting more and more involved in the investigation.

She doesn't have to look far because the investigation suddenly also includes her. After being run off the road she is also one of the victims and she realises it is only due to her asking so many questions.

This book was great. Of course there are a few witches but nothing paranormal. A great cosy like mystery with some really interesting characters that I can't wait to join again! I am off to look up this author and see if there are already anymore in this series avaliable!

Tally is about to turn sixteen and for most teenagers this is the time to think about learning to drive. However in Tally's world turning sixteenth means you get to have an operation that turns you from an ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty. In only a few weeks Tally will finally be sixteen.

But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty and wants to take her chances in the secret city of Smoke. So Shay runs awaya and Tally is left behind to see how ugly being pretty can be.

The Specials offer Tally a choice. Find her friend and turn her in or keep Shay's secret and never turn pretty at all. This leads Tally to go on a trip she will never forget and making decisions she doesn't want to make. Will she finally become pretty? Does she even want to?

This was an amazing first book in this series. This author has taken something that effects everyone at some point in their life and has invented a world where it is no longer an issue. I can't wait to read the next book 'Pretties' and I can already see it going up on my 'to be read' list! This is alot more interesting that the 'Midnighters' series and I can't wait to see where the author takes the characters and story.

Josie Marcus is a mystery shopper. A really cool job if you can find it! I mean shopping and getting paid for it can't be that bad? Or can it? Well it turns out to be a matter or life or Death for Josie in this first 'Mystery Shopper' book.

I really enjoyed this cosy mystery! I loved the mystery shopper angle and I really enjoyed the characters. This was nicely written and it was funny and refreshing to read. Oh and one of the best things is that even though this is about shopping it isn't about fashion or style. Just a normal single mom living with her mother who is addicted to the shopping channel!

I am looking forward to reading more in this series and also more by this author. I needed a new cosy series to relax with and now I have one!

John Taylor is a PI for hire in the Nightside, a dark and corrupt city within the city of London. The sun never shines in the Nightside and it isn't a very nice place to live or visit.

The Nightside is about to be destroyed by John Taylor's mum. The mother he has tried to find for so long has turned out to be the only one that nobody can stop. Nobody that is except her own child.

John can stop her but he has seen the future of the Nightside and he knows that it is doomed. He also knows it is his fault. So how will he manage to stop his mother and save the Nightside? John is feared by many but everyone knows that if anyone can do it he can.

This was a really interesting book in the Nightside series. After looking for his mother so long things finally come out into the open and it is explosive! This world is extremely entertaining and while it is dark and disturbing it is also quite amusing.

If you haven't already visited the Nightside then start at the beginning and give it a go. You maybe pleasantly surprised at how much you will like this crazy city hidden under London.

From the back cover -

The overpopulation problem has been solved.

On a planet decimated by a brutal plague. The number one pastime has been staying alive.

The survivors -- teenagers -- thought they were the only people left on earth. But they are about to discover they're not alone.

Something is watching them. Something ancient. Something evil. Something that has waited for centuries for its time to arrive....

The wait is finally over.

This is getting more and more interesting. Who is the chosen one and what is it that the chosen one will actually do? These books are short but they make an impact! I am looking forward to reading the next in the series 'May' in a few weeks!

It has been a few months since I visited Darren Shan and after a few pages of this 8th book I realised I should have read this sooner. This series just keeps getting better and better and if I didn't have any self control I would happily read the next 4 books left in the series right now.

In this book alot of Darren's past catches up with him. A few people he hasn't seen for a long time are suddenly back in his life and I knew from the beginning that at least one of them was going to turn out to be bad news.

Thrilling and addictive this is an amazing series and I will be sad when I finally get to the end...

The blurb for this book looked very promising. However in reality I found this hard to read and slighty confusing. I kept going till the end and was rewarded for my patience in the last 3rd of the book. It will be interesting to see what books 2 and 3 in the series are like...

Another 'Chintz 'n China Mystery' solved and I am still loving this series. In this book Emerald's birthday is approaching as well as Halloween. Everything seems to be going to plan but then the cat vanishes and strange things start happening in the lot next door. The same lot that her boyfriend Joe just happens to have bought and it clearing up.

With will-o-the-wisps and ghostly cats keeping Emerald on edge it is no surprise that her life starts getting crazy. Finding the basement left over from the house that used to stand on the land doesn't make things better. It seems that a women named Brigit was living down there 50 years ago and opening up the entrance has set her ghost free. So what happened 50 years ago? and what happened to the young girl?

Again lots of questions for Emerald and I yet again had the feeling of 'I know the answer why doesn't she?'. However much I love this series and the characters I have to say that Emerald does come across as a little slow. I really enjoyed White Deer giving her a little bit of a telling off near the end and hope it will help Emerald's character a little.

This series is lovely and cosy with lots of cool witchy, paranormal & spooky twists. I can't wait to read the next book in the series although I have to admit I would prefer a nice ARC of Dragon Wytch (also by this author - Sisters of the Otherworld series) instead ;)

To compliment the contest I am running to win a copy of 'Staked' by J.F. Lewis here is an interview with the author! I hope you all enjoy reading this and that you will, if you haven't already, enter the contest!

***********************

AK: Well I think it is cool that you are happy to do an interview! Thanks!

JFL: No worries. It's an honor to be asked.

AK : Soooo...questions...

Were vampires your first subject choice for a book or was there
something else you wrote about first?

JFL: Actually no, the first couple of books I wrote were a bit more family friendly, if that makes any sense. Those were about a wizard, the familiar who was in love with him, and a foster child that the wizard was trying to protect. No one wanted to buy those, though, and I'd had the seeds of a vampire story milling about on my creative backburner for quite some time. The idea was rather abruptly brought to the forefront by a vampire novel (which shall remain unidentified) that really annoyed me.

AK: Obviously your vampires have the usual traits such as not being able to see their reflections but some of their traits are not the norm. With so many vampire based books out there on the market did you feel the need to make your characters different and to stand out?

JFL: In a word, yes. I've written about it a little in my blog and talked about it on panels, but I got serious about writing as a career when my wife bought me a book (WRITING THE BREAKOUT NOVEL by Donald Maas). While I was reading it, I went back through the vampire story I'd started, trashed most of it, and reworked it with an eye toward making sure that if I used a trope, I changed it significantly or, to steal a phrase from Emeril Lagasse, "kicked it up a notch." So, I guess you could say that Donald Maas gave my werewolves religion. Heh.

Back to the question, though. The major difference between my vampires and, say, the sexy vampires in other Urban Fantasy books is that I wanted my vampires to be monsters and still be people. I wanted vampirism to revolve around blood, but not bloodlines. Becoming a vampire didn't need to be some magic pill that turned everyone into murderous super sexy bisexuals with instant fashion sense and the ability to dance. It had to come with a price. It also had to be very personal. I wanted the kind of person someone was in life to directly affect what kind of vampire he or she became... a sort of supernatural Rorschach test. I also wanted them to have things that they really missed about being human, simple stuff like eating food or being able to do your own make-up.

As a result, Eric had to be a guy who could do what he needed to do to survive and not whine about it.... an average every day Joe who was basically good at heart, but was now trying to deal with being a monster.

AK: Did you find it hard writing from Tabitha's perspective? Being a guy writing as a gal must need a little help? or?

JFL: Yes and no. I relied on a lot of input from the women in my life (and by that I mean my wife, my mom, and a couple of their close friends), but the biggest secret to writing from a female perspective (and the hardest thing for me to do) was to remember to keep Tabitha thinking. She's always plotting, always planning, always has an agenda even if we don't always like her agenda or believe it to be a bit vapid. She's definitely smarter than she lets on.

To me, the key difference between men and women is that (as far as I'm aware) a woman's mind is only truly quiet when she's asleep. Women are always thinking about something. I was talking to my wife over lunch at OmegaCon before the "Writing the opposite sex" panel, trying to explain what I meant and she illustrated my point very nicely. After I explained my theory, she asked "Okay, like what?"

"Well, for example... What are you thinking right now?" I asked.

"Well," she said, looking up at the ceiling for a moment and then back to me, "I'm thinking about the boys, wondering if they are giving Nan and Pop a hard time. I'm wondering if I brought the right clothes for tomorrow...thinking about running down to the store to buy a easel for your table so that we can hang your poster better... and I'm worried about the food for the nine o'clock panel..."

I took another bite of my sandwich.

"Why?" she added. "What are you thinking about?"

"I'm chewing," I answered.

Now obviously that story isn't true of everyone, but I think that on the whole, most men are much simpler animals than women. If you ask what a woman is thinking and she says, "nothing," then she probably just doesn't want to tell you. But if a guy gives the same answer...

AK : I loved the idea that Eric had 'children'. What was the reason behind that?

JFL: It just struck me as something he would do. Eric is always trying to maintain as normal a life as he possibly can. If he were human, if he hadn't been killed, he would have married Marilyn and had kids, raised a family. Since he can't do that, he keeps trying to do the next best thing. Not that it goes very well...

AK:Are you as forgetful as Eric?

JFL: Eric's bad memory is my bad memory blown way out of proportion.

AK :I love the T-shirts 'Welcome to the Void'! Did you come up with the catchphrase before the city name? or vice versa? and are the T-shirts for sale anywhere? ;)

JFL: Thanks! It was the original title for the book, but I was asked to change it. I'm not sure what it was about that title that people didn't like, but I'm happy with STAKED as a title. I thought up the city name and the catchphrase virtually in the same instant, but I *think* the city was
born a few picoseconds earlier than the catchphrase.

I *do* hope to have the t-shirts available "soon" but I have to find the right place first. I want them to look right and be affordable, but at the same time, I can't really afford to order them in bulk from the place that made the ones we have, at least, not until I get the advance for the sequel to Staked. Also, apparently I need a business license or something. As soon as I get it all worked out, I'll post the purchasing details on my website and at my blog.

AK: Did you have to spend some time in strip clubs and with strippers to help write this story? ;)

JFL: Actually, I don't know if I should admit this, but I've never been into a strip club before or seen a stripper in action. When I used to work at the Lion & Unicorn (a now defunct comic and games store here in Birmingham) one of our customers was a stripper and I think I may have asked her a few questions at one time or another, but mostly I just made the Demon Heart work the way I wanted it to and trusted that any foul-ups on the reality side of things could be excused by its true purpose being a source of food for Eric.

With the understanding that a strip club is where people pay to see other people take their clothes off, I didn't need to know much else. I might have had more research to do if I wanted to go into detail about the running of the business, but it was more important to me to figure out how many strippers Eric would need in order to exclusively feed from them while not damaging their health. Thanks go to the Red Cross for answering that question for me, by the way.

AK: What does the future hold for Eric and Tabitha? More books? More werewolves? or will they come up against other paranormals?

I've turned in the manuscript for the second book. It's tentatively titled ReVamped (for reasons that will be obvious to readers of Staked). ReVamped answers many of the questions about Rachel (Who does she work for? What is she after? Is she really Tabitha's sister?) and it goes into more detail about how Eric became a vampire, in fact, to be honest, all the clues are in there by the end of ReVamped, so it could be puzzled out.

As for the plot, in ReVamped, the largest problems are other vampires and a soul-stealing demon who has something Eric wants. There is also the plot against Eric, of course. There is always a plot against Eric... he's so fun to plot against. ;)

AK: Any other projects in the works?

I'm working on the third Eric/Tabitha book. I'm roughly a third of the way through that one. I'm roughly the same distance in on another Void City novel featuring a member of the Mage Guild. I'm polishing up the finished first draft of a novel in an Epic Fantasy series about carnivorous elves. I've submitted a comic book proposal that involves reinventing Devil Dinosaur as a shape-shifting red-head (not sure Marvel will let me do it though). I've also started a short story called America's Next Top Monster...

AK: Those are the questions...I hope they are ok! I am pretty new at the interview thang ;) I know you mentioned your upcoming projects and the new Eric/Tabitha books in our emails but I wanted to add them as questions for my readers to get the full scoop ;)

JFL: They seemed fine to me. If you have any follow up questions just send them/it my way.

AK: Thanks for popping over and making a comment on the blog. I look forward to getting your answers and posting them.

JFL: You're welcome.

**************************

I want to thank J.F. Lewis again for taking the time to answer my questions and to wish him luck with his future novels that I will be pre-ordering as soon as they are avaliable! I have to say that ReVamped sounds like it is going to be better than 'Staked' and I am really curious about 'America's Next Top Monster'.

Please take the time to visit J. F's website (link on the sidebar) and also buy the book or at least put it on your wishlist and enter the contest before Friday!!!

I went to the iLIKETRAINS concert last night and loved every minute of it. Well maybe not the waiting (they started 2 hours later than advertised) but after they started I forgave them. They were just as good live as on CD and I will be going to see them again whenever I get the opportunity to. They played a load of songs I love and even my favourites so I was very happy!

I have to give the guys huge kudos as well. The poor things had been travelling all night and day from Italy where all their money was stolen! Still with lack of sleep and low morale they got up on stage and gave a great show. Even when the equipment played up they chatted with us and carried on!

Thank you iLIKETRAINS! iLIKEYOU!

For the last two years Rowen Grant a practicing Witch has become a part-time sleuth. With the help of his friend Detective Storm he has faced two serial killers and has almost lost his life both times.

Only three weeks ago (See 'Perfect Trust')his wife was kidnapped by a rapist who wanted her for himself. Luckily no harm came to his red haired and short tempered Irish wife but it has left him frightened and short of energy.

There is no rest for the wicked and even though Rowen isn't the bad guy the killer Eldon Andrew thinks he is. Eldon has already been on a killing spree that focused on Witches as he tries to resurrect the 15th Century Witch Hunts. However this time around he is after Rowen and he will do anything he can to get his attention.

This was as good as I expected to be. This fourth book in the Rowen Gant series had me hooked from page one and I couldn't put it down. I read this in one sitting and didn't want it to end. Sellars mixes religion and belief with a great murder plot with facts and no bias.

I love the characters and I have really started to get a feel for them. I love Rowan's wife Felicity and adore her use of Gaelic when she loses her temper. Detective Storm is a great friend and support for Rowan and I hope that somewhere in the future he gets some recognition for what he has been through. I am a little suspect about the new character Lieutenant Albright and think we will be seeing more of her in the rest of the series.

I already have the fifth book 'Crone's Moon' waiting here for me on my bookshelf and I can't wait to find the time to read it. This series is fascinating and the author has an amazing gift!

It is that time of the week again and I am posting this a little rushed because I have a concert to go to! Any regular readers will have seen my post a few weeks ago about a band called iLIKETRAINS. Well they are playing Vienna tonight and I will be there!

What have I got left to tell you this week? I think I have posted alot so far...but things to look out for here? Well there will be a new interview coming up from J.F. Lewis. Don't forget to enter the contest to win his book 'Staked'! It is a well worth read!

Otherwise I haven't much else to report yet from my side. There are a few things in the works but I don't want to post about them and get you all excited and then disappoint you all when things don't work out. So keep coming back!

In the big wide world of books and blogs? Quite alot to report -

The first is a new series of books from Maria V.Snyder. The 'Glass' series will be set in the same world as her 'Study' series but will be based around the character Opal who readers met in the previous books. I am really excited about this series and you can already read a preview on her website - http://www.mariavsnyder.com/books/storm01.php

Urban Fantasy Land got a Spring clean this week which shocked me a little. I like the layout and it makes it easier to read but I don't find it as 'fantasy' like anymore. What does everyone else think?

This week Suburban Vampire asks the question 'What is your favorite vampire-human relationship?'. I had to pick Spike & Buffy but so far Bella & Edward are winning! Go over and vote for your favourite!

And talking of Bella & Edward you can see a nice clip of the upcomming move adaptation of Twilight on Urban Fantasy Reader's blog. Oh and I heard that the unreleased 'Host' also by Stephanie Meyer may also make it to the big screen!

Anyway...enough rambling from me! Please visit again and bring friends ;)

This anthology is filled with the first four books from the Paranormal Mates Society series. Very sexy, erotic and steamy this is not for the weak at heart and not your ordinary Paranormal Romance.

You will find my full review on Paranormal Romance when it posted!

A review for Paranormal Mates Society Vol 2 will be coming soon!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be sending 'La Vida Vampire' to the contest winner. Why? Because Nancy Haddock has offered to send a copy to the winner herself! Which means I can keep my copy!

A huge thank you!

I hope you enjoy your book Wss4 when it arrives! Nancy is off signing books right now but she will get the book and extras off to you as soon as she is home. Anyone who wants to go and meet the author and buy her book should check out her website for more details.

Working for Satan is a great job if you get the offer. After three thousand years of employment Lily is happy with her employment contract. She gets all the fashionable clothes she wants, can eat all the food she wants without getting fat and she can hang out with her 3 demon girlfriends all the time.

With all that in mind Lily is starting to feel lonely. Being a Succubus is what she is best at but after all this time she wouldn't mind just that little bit more. She makes sure she the jerks, liars and the creeps get the best night of their lives but she wants to wake up to something other than a pile of ashes.

Nathan is handsome although Lily isn't too sure how he managed to come into her life. Is he out to destroy her and her demon friends or is he really what he seems? Will she survive the threats on her life? Will she finally find a true love and get out of her contract? Does she want to?

I have to admit that I wanted to give up on this one. It was only after the first 100 pages that I finally got hooked and that was mainly because Lily became a much nicer character when she got involved with Nathan.

Of course the name of the book is a play on 'Sex in the City' and the first 100 pages was for me just a rip off of the TV series but with demons. I didn't think it would as special as it turned out to be and I am really glad I kept reading.

This was devilishly fun and fashionable. With a nice main character and a gorgeous man heading the book and some interesting characters on the sidelines this book had a nice storyline which really took off towards the end making me wish the book wasn't over yet.

A cliffhanger ending has left me hoping that book 2 will be out soon! I want to know what happens next and I want to know what Akkadian really looks like ;) Great debut Nina! I want more!

Edit - I was just over on Amazon and saw that 'Succubus Takes Manhattan' is out in November! I already added it to my wishlist!

This was an extremely enjoyable read and once I started I couldn't stop! I read it all in one go and really want to read more books by this author.

You can see my full review when it is posted over on Paranormal Romance.

I also have to mention 'Vampire in...My Dreams' by Terry Lee Wilde. There was an excerpt of it in the back of 'Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways' and it looks good. Only avaliable on Amazon.com through Kindle...hmmm need to hunt it down I think!

This was a cosy mystery with romance thrown in. Not amazing but not bad either. This story has parts in it that everyone could enjoy.

My full review will be on Paranormal Romance soon.

Author of 'La Vida Vampire' (the prize in my last contest), Nancy Haddock, agreed to answer a few questions about her debut release to post here on my blog. Thank you Nancy for answering the questions! You are offically my first author interview!

1. How did you come up with the idea for La Vida Vampire? Were you just sitting at home one day thinking 'wow wouldn't it be cool to have a vampire stuck under a house for 200 years?' or did the idea start from some other point in the story?

I would love to be clever enough to have started with the stuck for 200 years part, but the idea for La Vida Vampire started in a different place. I was watching a peanut butter commercial in which one little girl says to her friend, "We can play Crazy Eights or we can watch this Princess Vampire video" ... or words to that effect. Okay, so I know I heard the line all wrong, but I couldn't stop laughing, and that was the first spark of inspiration. From there I played "What if?" until I came up with the buried in the basement for over 200 years part, the day-walker surfer girl part, and a few other parts. But the truth is that Cesca had quite a few surprises for me -- which is cool because discovering things about characters is one of the highs of writing!

2. Did you decide Cesca would be a surfer vamp and work around the whole vampires can't go out in the sun problem? or the other way round?

I knew Cesca had a special affinity for the ocean as she grew up, and knew that didn't change after her turning. When she was unearthed, she insisted she could be out in the sun part of the time -- even though she didn't know why this was possible. Thus Cesca became a part day-walker and learned to surf.

3. Is Cesca anything like yourself? Of course you aren't 227 years old but do you share any character similarities with her?

According to a friend who's known me only slightly less than 227 years (grins), I share Cesca's sense of humor. We also share a birthday -- at her insistence, not because I was too lazy to give her one of her own. The date will become significant in a future book in the series.

4. Do you live in St. Augustine, Florida or just know it well? Are there really ghosts haunting the area? Did you have to do alot of research or did you use artistic license for this part of the story?

I do live in -- and love -- St. Augustine, Florida! I've only lived there for a bit over 5 years, but began visiting in 1989. There are ghosts galore, especially in the old downtown areas. There are also at least two ghost tour companies, and a number of books about the local ghosts. Within that framework, I did use a bit of literary license for the story.

5. Finally I want to know and I am sure others want to know - When is the next book coming out and what will it be called? Anything you can tell us? No spoilers of course but a few hints would be nice ;)

I don't have a sure title or release date for the second book, though we're probably looking at spring of 2009. The thumbnail sketch is: When a vampire wanna-be comic comes to Cesca for protection, her afterlife gets more complicated -- and more dangerous -- when she's forced to confront her past. Triton does come into this story more, and there are other surprises.

Thanks so much for the fun interview, Amber! You and your readers rock!

Light,
Nancy

Thank you again Nancy! I am looking forward to hearing more news about the next release! I hope you will let me review it ;) and of course make another contest to celebrate it!

Before I start this rant I want to say a huge thank you to author Rachel Vincent for sending me a copy of her newest book 'Rogue' to review. I am still waiting to here from Amazon.de as to when I can expect my order of the book so I was jumping for joy yesterday when I found 'Rogue' in my post box all nice, shiny and signed by Rachel. No I won't go into the woods ;)

However here starts the rant! Yet again I am being tortured by Amazon.de!

This week I recieved 2 emails from Amazon.de telling me they can't get hold of a book! City of Shadows by Celia Rees is actually an older book so maybe it just isn't being printed anymore? Although 'Frostbite' by Richelle Mead which was released a few days ago is not avaliable and they have no idea when it could arrive! I pre-ordered this months ago!!!

It is just so sad! I never used to have this much trouble but it seems that us Europeans are not worthy enough to get books when they are released!

Rant over... for now...

Faythe is back and trouble follows her where ever she goes! She has made some big decisions and also made her fair share of mistakes. Trying to prove herself to her father is her main cause of concern right now but she also has to show her worth to the Pride and herself.

Murdered toms are turning up in the Pride territory and it doesn't take long for Faythe and her other Pride members to see that the murders are connected. If that wasn't enough there are strippers going missing on the same route. Coincidence? or do the murders and disappearances have something to do with each other?

With all that taking up Faythe's energy she has nothing left over to use on Marc. Marc is not only Faythe's partner off duty but also on duty so the relationship is touchy as it is. Throw in an ex-boyfriend and Faythe starts to get jumpy which results in some changes nobody will believe.

If the first book in this series 'Stray' was amazing this 2nd book can only be Super amazing! It isn't very often that a 2nd book is so much better than the first but in this cause it has been worth the wait and it was an enjoyable read.

I love the were-cats and Faythe is a female to be reckoned with. She is strong, hard and knows what she wants and does her best to get it. Her Pride are a great family unit who are always there for her. I love the way they interact and savour any new details about them.

This is clever, has alot of edge and tasty and needs to be devoured in one go. There is nothing else in this genre that comes even close to being as good as this shape shifting series. Well done Rachel and thanks for getting the 3rd part 'Pride' out in Autumn (especially with that ending!). It isn't such a long wait...but I would love to have it now!!

Oh and just to keep the fans up to date! This was posted on Rachel's site the other day which had me drooling!

On Monday, I accepted an offer from my publisher for 3 young adult urban fantasies, the first of which is my side project—now known as MY SOUL TO TAKE. Here’s the blurb my agent wrote for Publisher’s Marketplace (though I think it got reworded before it went out):

Cute boys, dead girls, and the urge to scream; Rachel Vincent’s debut YA, MY SOUL TO TAKE, features a high school junior who’s sure she’s losing her mind until she discovers she’s a perfectly sane teenage banshee, now she just has to figure out who’s killing the girls.

The book is dark, and (hopefully) creepy, but (also hopefully) fun, and I’ve never been so obsessed with a story in my life as I was with this one. Seriously. I took banshees and kind of made them my own for this series, and had an absolute blast coming up with a fantastical cast of creatures/characters. There are no witches, vampires, or shifters, because I didn’t have anything to add to the existing lore for those. At least, not without stepping on my own werecats’ toes. ;-) But I love the characters in this world, and I can’t wait to introduce you all to them. ;-)

This book was so good that it deserves to be read by anyone who visits my blog so it is the prize if you win in this new contest!

In the 'Staked' world some vampires can change into animals. Some can change into any animal they want whereas some can only change into the animal they first changed into. One character in the book got stuck with only being able to change into a frog...poor thing! So my question to all my readers is -

If you were in the 'Staked' world and had to choose one animal to change into to test you had that power but knew it could be the only animal you could ever change into to, what animal would you chose? and why?

Post here with your answer to be entered into the contest!

The contest will close next Friday the 18th! So you only have a week to enter!

Please note that all my books are registered on Bookcrossing and the book will be posted to the winner asap but the delivery date all hangs on the decision made by the gods in the Austrian Post office.

Check out more about the author here

Welcome to the Void!

Vlad Vampire Eric has got short-term and long-term memory problems. He can't remember who he ate yesterday let alone how he got changed into a vampire in the first place. With his best friend Roger acting strangely and his girlfriend Tabitha begging to be turned he is getting a bit fed up.

So he solves one of his problems and only makes more. With a werewolf pack after him and Tabitha's sister turning up things are really getting out of hand. All Eric would like to do is just run his strip club, drink some blood and be left alone but things never work out like you want and instead he finds himself trying to survive all kinds of attacks.

This was a fast paced rollercoaster ride of fun. Eric is not like any vampire I have ever met before and it was a joy to read about him. The story unfolds with twists and turns that kept me hooked till the end and I loved the way the story was told by both Eric and Tabitha.

Great characters, interesting new takes on vamp life and a great story made this a book that makes me beg for more!! It is refreshing to see another guy on the block writing Paranormal Urban Fantasy and not messing it up. I will be on the look out for more from this author because he has a great style that needs to be seen in more books.

Dark, fun and totally undead this mix of Vamp and Were will please alot of Parnormal Urban Fantasy readers out there. So all I can say is 'GIVE ME MORE'!!!!
